Why Supreme is so Popular

Hi there, and welcome back to my blog about Supreme. Today I am going to be discussing how and why Supreme is so “hyped” in today’s culture. You’re probably wondering why I have they word hype in quotations in my last sentence. Today in the streetwear culture hype means what is in style and what everyone is into. An example of this is a few years ago, everyone wanted Air Jordan sneakers, today everyone wants the Adidas Ultraboost sneaker. But nonetheless people still wear Air Jordan sneakers (myself being one of those people).

After the little background about what hype is, we can now get into why Supreme is so hyped. Supreme has always had a following ever since their beginning in 1994. But, today what makes them so hyped is the high quality of their products, the low amount of production and the people or culture.

Over the years Supreme has made some very cool pieces of clothing that people want to have. Do to the low production quantity of items, most of Supreme stuff is pretty rare. In today’s day and age if someone wants something they will more than likely get it regardless of the price tag. Therefore, giving people with the product to charge pretty much whatever they want. As some of these prices started leaking to the internet, Supreme started to get well known.

Another reason why Supreme really took off is because a lot of celebrities started wearing Supreme clothing. Odell Beckham Jr. a wide receiver for the New York Giants in the NFL tends to wear Supreme quite frequently. Since Odell is a very popular athlete, when people see him wearing what he is, they also want to wear it. Two other people who I believe who had a big impact on the success of Supreme are Metro Boomin’ and Playboi Carti.

Metro Boomin’ produces rap music and is a big name in the industry. He has had several number one hits and has made a name for himself. Just like Odell when people see Metro Boomi’ wearing Supreme they want to also wear it. Playboi Carti is a rapper from Atlanta who had just released his debut album which popularized him. Before his album he had a following but it wasn’t all that big, just like Supreme. I was a fan of him before he became so called mainstream in the media and he has always been wearing Supreme. So, with several famous people wearing items from Supreme, this gave their sales and following a big boost.

 

In conclusion, these are the main reasons why Supreme has been so hyped the past few years rather than the previous years when it started.

Hello, and welcome back to my blog about Supreme! Today I am going to discuss how to resell your Supreme items for a decent profit. After you purchase an item from either their store in New York, Los Angeles, or from their website, http://www.supremenewyork.com there are many things you can do from here.

To start off, reselling Supreme can range from being a side hobby you do, or as for others it is their main source of income. For me, Supreme is just a hobby, I enjoy buying and wearing their clothes, sometimes I sell some items I get too. A website I highly recommend to resell/buy Supreme is www.grailed.com. Grailed is a platform very similar to eBay, but it’s only for clothes and items such as Supreme or famous designers. How does Grailed work? First you must make an account, once this is done it is quite easy. Click on the “sell” tab and post a brief, but detailed description and pictures of your item. Then click “publish” and you’re done! Grailed is a great place to resell your items because they are linked through PayPal and have a 100% money back guarantee if your item is fake, not as described, or not even the item you ordered.

Now, for the people that do this for their main income that’s a different story. Some people have opened consignment stores. A consignment store is a store that sells Supremes items for a price higher than retail, but Supreme gets a percentage of the profit. How do they get their items? They go wait in line themselves they also pay people to stand in line for them at the store to get the item they want! (If you’re a younger kid in the areas where the stores are this is a great way to make some money.) Also, people use Instagram to sell their items. This is very hard unless you already have a trusted and reliable reputation. A very reliable consignment store is www.copvsdrop.com, I recommend checking them out!

Some of my personal advice and experience for you about reselling Supreme is… STAY AWAY FROM EBAY. eBay is not a very reliable place. Grailed shows you the sellers feedback and how many items they have sold/bought on Grailed. eBay can be an OK place to buy from, but if you get scammed you probably won’t get your money back. I had purchased a “famous” box logo sweatshirt that I mentioned in my last blog from Grailed. The “reseller” was just trying to make some quick money I guess and sent me just a plain t-shirt. Since I bought if off the site www.gralied.com I was eligible for a full refund because that is their policy. Always buy from someone who has feedback on their account. Also, don’t be afraid to message them if you’re buying online. I personally always have a little conversation with the seller before I send my money to them to make sure they are legit and not going to scam you.

How to buy Supreme Clothes

Hello and welcome back to my blog! Today I will be talking about how to buy Supreme clothes, also how to make sure you’re being authentic items. As I said in my previous blog, Supreme releases their items in seasons. The spring/summer season typically begins around late February and runs until the end of July. The fall/winter season starts at the end of August and runs until the end of December.

Supreme has always only produced a limited amount of each item. This giving each item a somewhat significant value, some more than others. The company releases their clothes in what are called ‘drops’ every Thursday at eleven A.M. while Supreme is in season. How to buy? Well, you can go to their store if you’re in the surrounding area, which is a good way to try to get the piece you want. Or, you can use their website to make purchases. Since they only make a limited amount of each item, if you’re not fast enough during the checkout or just not around when the clock strikes eleven, you may not get the item you want because it is sold out. If you unfortunately did not get the item you wanted, Supreme has a huge resell market.

If you didn’t get your item for retail, you must be willing to pay the resell price which can be very costly on some items. For example, if you wanted the iconic Supreme box logo sweatshirt and were not able to get it from the store for $150, you will be paying anywhere from $450-$1000 for the item! Now not all items sell for that much, but anything with the box logo is very expensive. For instance, you may be able to find a shirt just over retail for about $60-$80.

 

There are numerous stores around the country that buy and then resell Supreme or you can buy straight from the owner. If you plan to buy straight from the owner, make sure it is a trusted source and they have proof it is an authentic item. You don’t want to be caught wearing fake Supreme or pay a high price for something that isn’t even real.

Supreme is a skating and clothing brand founded in 1994 by James Jebbia. Their main store is in New York City. I am very interested in this brand because I enjoy the clothes they make, also I enjoy the culture and the appreciation for the brand. From the beginning and several years into their business, not many people knew about supreme, mainly just skaters. Supreme has their own skate team and they give skaters on opportunity to do what they love for a living. Supreme has recently blown up over the past couple of years. I have just recently gotten into the brand and what it is all about. Supreme has two stores in the United States, one in New York City and one in Los Angeles. Also, they have six stores in Japan and two stores in Europe. Supreme releases their clothes in seasons, this means they have a fall/winter and a spring/summer release of clothes and accessories. With much more to discuss, this is just a brief review of Supreme.
